Summer 2011 part 1

Well it's 3:30 am Belgian time, and I am sitting in the living room with Kay, watching Elmo...Because while Mat and Breanna are fast asleep, Kay had other plans for me. Her top tooth is FINALLY breaking through so she has been acting up a little bit, and she was hungry but did not want anything to do with her bottle...and now she's not tired even a little bit. I could take the opportunity to clean or put away suitcases but this seemed like more fun : )
Summer so far has been quite the adventure, I'll try to put everything in here that we did and hopefully it makes sense!
We started off in Spangdhalem, Germany. Its about 3 hours from our house and 1 hour from Ramstein, Germany where we go to catch the space-A flights back to the states. We stayed overnight at the hotel on base in Spangdhalem, it was a pretty relaxing night. We went to a resturant in town and got some delicious german food. Kay and I shared a plate of deer goulash, it was AMAZING!!! We took her to the park by the hotel and then put her to bed while we enjoyed some tasty german wine. Here are some pics of Kay at the park in Germany!
Alrighty after that we woke up pretty early and headed to Ramstein to hopefully get on space-a to BWI. Theres always a chance that there wont be enough space for everyone to get on the plane, but luckily they had a ton of open seats on the commercial airline, so we didnt have to ride on the cargo plane this time! yay! Kay took a little nap in the USO while we were waiting...
We got on with no problem and Kay did pretty well, she didnt sleep quite as much as she did the first time we flew back to the states but she could have been a lot worse!
This is Kay before the flight started...
and waiting for the plane to take off
and this is her grump face after we landed 8 hours later!
Mats dad picked us up from BWI and we spent a few days at his house, Kay adjusted to the time change well and we had a good time hanging out with mat's dad. We were glad to be back in the states!!!
Here's a pic of Kay snuggling with her papa rusty (mat's dad)
After a few days in PA we caught our flight to Colorado, Kay did pretty well on this flight too. shes getting to be a good little traveler!
I'll post more tomorrow, I'm going to make another attempt at sleeping with Kay. Love you all!

April 21, 2011

I actually have something to blog about! : ) We went to Park Daiza yesterday. It's the zoo thats pretty close to the house. We spent nearly all day there! We went last sumer when Kay was a month or two old. I think she enjoyed it A LOT more this time! She was awake for most of it and looked at a lot of the animals. It will be really fun this summer when Breanna is here with us, there is a HUGE playground at the zoo. Mat and I played on it for a few minutes! Took a lot of pics, and made sure to get some that we are actually in! hope you enjoy! : )

Waffles!

KayLeigh is now eating waffles, of all kinds! She shares some of my morning waffle with syrup and butter, and we went to downtown Mons yesterday and she had her first taste of Belgian waffle! She is getting so big so fast! She steals all sorts of food off our plates all the time now, eggs, waffles, frenchfries : ) lol. She is an eating machine! She held her sippy cup up by herself for the first time yesterday too..my big girl : ) We have started going to story time every tuesday at the library on base, and although I didnt really have high hopes for her attention span for it, she loves it! she listens and watches as the woman reads the book, and likes dancing around with all the big kids when they play the songs. I read her books every night before bed, and we're slowly trying to build up our library of books for her. She has found a love for all things elmo, anywhere she sees him, she lets out this high pitched squeal and grabs for whatever item he happens to be on. She is crazy about elmo! She now says "mama" and "dada" and seems to know who is who at least a little bit.. she is going to be a wild woman when she starts walking!! She can crawl now too, she sort of crawls/army crawls with one arm lol but she sure is quick!! Her favorite thing to chase is the dogs of course, and she finds the puppies absolutley hilarious! We're looking forward to coming back to the states in a few months. I need my fix of shopping at American stores, and I have a list of places to eat! ; p We're going to fly Space A again out of Ramstein mid may, and fly into the east coast then either drive or get a plane to Colorado. We'll be there for Jared's graduation and into June a little bit, then we're going to pick up Breanna and come back to Belgium. It should be fun with her here this summer, and my wonderful husband bought us a second car so when he is working I can still take the girls to the zoo and stuff. We're planning on doing a lot this summer! Then in August its back to the states again!! Mat has a school to go to and I'll be back in Colorado with Kay for about 2 weeks. I am so excited to soak up some warm summer sun! I hope to see lots of you at Jareds graduation, or in August. We love you all! : )

March 2011

Sorry everyone! I get so caught up with facebook, that I neglect the blog sometimes...lol. We havent done much of anything since we got back from Ohio, which has actually been really nice. We did take a trip to Amsterdam, just a quick overnight trip to get out of the house for a bit. It's a really nice place, and there is a lot more english being spoken there, so it was nice to go even though the weather was not the best. The house is about to get pretty crazy, KayLeigh is learning very quickly how to crawl, and now wants to do nothing but wiggle around all the time!! She is wanting to get into everything! We took a trip to IKEA the other day, and she was trying to wiggle out of the stroller and trying to reach out and put everyting in her mouth! she is going to be a wild child! on top of that, we have 3 puppies that are all learning how to walk, and will be mobile and running around the house very shortly. so I will be getting plenty of exercise soon!

We are purchasing a second car yay! Just a used european spec car for me, but I am very excited about it. Kay and I will start going to playgroups every week, she seems very interested in other kids that she sees. Her favorite friend (besides elmo) is the cute little baby that lives in the mirror lol. She knows how to give kisses, but she rarely gives them to mat or I, she usually reserves those for my little pony or the baby in the mirror : )

We are planning out our summer, we will be coming back to Colorado for Jared's graduation at the end of may, then coming back in August when mat has a school to go to for a few weeks. So we'll be around! Hopefully in August we'll be able to have a first birthday party for her with family! She is certainly getting her own personality, she gets little more attitude every day! she will certainly let you know if you arent paying enough attention to her! lol

Thats really about all thats new with us. but this summer will be crazy so check back!

love you all!

here are some new pictures!

2011

It's the first few minutes of a new year, welcome 2011! It's so strange that 4 years ago this time, I was getting ready to graduate highschool, and this coming May Jared will be graduating. So much has changed this year, it has been pretty crazy. I could not be more grateful for the way everything has turned out. Mat and I have a beautiful home in Belgium, and we made the move without going crazy. We made it through the dogs having puppies and KayLeigh being born at the same time. I still have trouble believing I am a mom sometimes, and giving birth in Belgium was quite the experience. I am so thankful that KayLeigh is happy and healthy and she is thriving. This summer Mat and I are looking forward to having his daughter,Breanna spend a few months with us! She will get to see a lot of her little sister and we have a lot of plans for her to experience Europe. My new year resolution is to go back to school, and I am working with admissin counslers right now to start asap. I"m looking forward to completing a degree. I hope everyone had a wonderful 2010 and that the new year finds everyone healthy and happy! I love you all! Happy new years from Belgium!!

Family Pictures 2010

Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in a while, we just got back from the states a few days ago, we didn't have much access to the internet, and we were way too busy to write a blog! We went and visited Mat's family in Ohio, and had an excellent time! We decided to try out Space-A (space available) travel through the Airforce, and we had a pretty good first experience with it. We left from Ramstein, Germany on the 15th of November and the flight was about 10 hours, the only one that was available was into Dover, Delaware, so thats what we got on. The way Space-A travel works is that cargo planes or planes taking troops to Afghanastan and Irag go through Germany and will pick up more people if they have room. So the plane goes from Afghanistan to Germany, then Germany to the states somewhere on the east coast usually, and we hopped on to go to the east coast. The plane we rode on to the states was quite different than any I've been on before. We rode on a C-5 cargo plane! The thing is sooooo HUGE!! It is the plane they use to transport tanks! Above the cargo space there is space for passengers, and we rode up there. There are quite a few seats and only 18 passengers so we got to stretch out quite a bit, it was pretty nice. The seats in the plane face backwards though, so when you take off and land it feels really weird. The worst part is there are no windows on a C-5, so it felt kind of claustraphobic in there...but I cant really complain because it is free travel for military members, so we didnt have to pay anything. KayLeigh did very well on both flights. She slept pretty much the whole way, and when she wasnt sleeping she was eating, she barely cried at all! Her ears didnt seem to bother her, so that was a relief, and she adjusted to the time change of 6 hours really quickly. Once we got into Delaware we were planning on staying at a hotel since Ohio is an 8 hour drive, but Mats mom and sister suprised us and brought us all the way back to Ohio that night. We were so ready to sleep after that drive! We spent the first few days there shopping and stopping in to see everyone in his family. The next saturday Mat went and picked Breanna up from Louisiana, and she spent the week of Thanksgiving with us. This trip was Breannas first chance to meet KayLeigh, and she is such a wonderful big sister!! She is absolutley in love with Kay, and is great with her. We had a birthday party for Breanna while she was there with mat's whole family and she got tons of presents, cake and love. We took our family pictures, and they will hopefully become a yearly tradition. I took Kay to get her ears pierced while we were in Ohio, and she did really well, cried for about 2 minutes and then completley forgot about it, she has little pink butterfly earrings, Breanna thought they were too cute. After Breanna went home we continued to shop and spend time with Mats family. I was treated to a night without the baby and Husband and went out for a girls night at a bar, my first time to drink at a bar in the states since I turned 21 while pregnant in Belgium! I had a good time, but lets just say I wont be drinking for a while! Mat stayed home with Kay and found out just how good our baby is, she slept for him the whole night darnit!! lol. The plane ride back was easy enough, we didnt think we were going to get on it but by some luck our names got called and we boarded on the 6th from Baltimore. Space-A travel doesnt guarantee you a seat, you can sign up online in advance, but if the plane crew decides they dont want anymore people, or they too many people sign up before you, you just dont get a seat. This time we got a commercial plane, and got to watch movies the way home, when we werent sleeping. Again Kay slept pretty much the whole way, and she stunk up the airplane bathroom with a poopy diaper, I feel really sorry for whoever went in there after us lol. We got off the plane and were greeted with snow in Germany, stopped at the PX to buy Kay a bouncer (thanks papa Rusty) and headed home that day. The roads were pretty bad, we had horrible weather to welcome us home, fog, and rain, and wind. But we made it home safely, it was pretty late though so we watited until the next day (yesterday) to go pick up the dogs. They were staying with our friends who dont live too far from us. They were so happy to see us!! The dogs even seemed to miss Kay, and gave her some kisses too! while we were in Ohio Kayleigh perfected rolling over, which she did for the first time a few nights before we left from Belgium to Ohio, and MAts sister got her to laugh for the first time, its such a cute laugh! We all had a great time, and we are looking forward to our next trip to the states this summer!! But for now it feels good to be home, I love being in the US, but its nice to be in our house with all our stuff, living out of suitcases was getting pretty old by the time we left. IT was a good couple of weeks and I certainly needed to get out of Belgium for a while! Our next trip will be in May, Kay and I will be coming to Colorado for a while. Love you all very much!! hope you enjoy the pictures!
