Day 10, Kay in Maastricht eating a cherry pastry. yum! |
Today was a busy, fun day! We went to the Nederlands with our friends Matt and Kelly, and visited a few Christmas markets! We rented a big van so we could all drive together, and put KayLeigh and Kelly's son, Brody, in the back together, they got to watch dvds on the way home, and that made Kay pretty happy! We went to Maastrict first, which is about an hour and a half away from where we live, so not bad at all! We got there, parked, and bundled the kids up, because it was pretty chilly today! could've been a lot worse though, it wasnt windy or raining, so we were happy. We wandered through town and walked through the Chrismas market, got some delicious pastries, and just enjoyed the sights. There was a cute little kid choir singing songs inside a mall, so we watched them for a few minutes, then walked around a bit more. Then we headed to the Valkenburg caves, which was only about 15 mins away. The caves were really neat, and the town itself was very cool. It was just sooooo crowded in those caves!! I kept trying to get pictures, and they didnt come out because it was so hot, and after being outside in the cold, my camera lens kept fogging up! There were so many people crammed in those caves, it was fun for a little while, but it felt like they would never end! And the husbands had the kids in backpacks, so we didnt have to bring the strollers in there, so they were getting tired quickly. We looked around and KayLeigh really liked looking at all the lights and decorations, and was pointing at everything. We got some tasty german potato things, and some bratwurst and a hamburger to eat, Kay really liked the Hamburger, and ate more than mat probably wanted lol! After the markets, we had a big hike back up to where we parked the car, but it was worth it. I wish it hadnt been so crowded, but it was nice to get out of the house, and out of Belgium for a while, especially with good friends!! I am exhausted now, and still have to make cupcakes for our AirForce Christmas party tomorrow, so I'll talk to you all tomorrow! love you!! Hope your weekend is off to a good start!
